Campus Safety

Introduction

At Collins Career Technical Center, our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff. We are committed to providing a secure environment supported by qualified personnel and comprehensive resources.

Clery Act Overview

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) is a federal mandate requiring all higher education institutions to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses. We must provide our community with an Annual Security Report, a public crime log, and timely warnings about crimes that pose a threat to students and employees.

Annual Campus Safety & Security Report (2025–2026)

This report provides important information about safety and security at Collins Career Technical Center. It fulfills federal requirements under the Clery Act and the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act by including three years of campus crime statistics, policies on reporting and responding to incidents, emergency notification and timely warning procedures, and information about prevention programs. It also outlines our drug- and alcohol-related policies, federal and state legal sanctions, health risks, and available support resources. Students, employees, and prospective members of our community are encouraged to review this document to understand their rights, responsibilities, and the resources available to help ensure a safe and supportive environment.

Daily Crime Log

We maintain a Daily Crime Log that records, by the date reported, all crimes and other serious incidents that occur on campus, in a campus building or facility, or on public property adjacent to campus.

Timely Warnings

If a situation arises that constitutes an ongoing or continuing threat, a campus-wide “timely warning” will be issued. The warning will be issued through the school email system, text messaging, social media posts, and other notification systems.

Reporting a Crime

To report a crime or emergency, contact the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office by dialing 9-1-1 in an emergency or via their non-emergency number at (740) 532-3525.
