Collins Career Center Program Areas

Collins Career Center has organized all career technical programs offered into Career Academies and Career Clusters that will provide each student with multiple pathways to employment or post-secondary education. These Academies and Clusters work to promote career planning, relate subject matter to the real world of life and work, and provide the tools necessary for a successful transition from high school to higher education, advanced training, and/or a career.

Career Academies are research-based models for high school reform. Studies have shown that students in career academies perform better in high school and are more likely to go on to further their education after graduation than are students in traditional high school learning environments.

The Career Clusters established by Collins Career Center also relate all educational subjects to the students' career interest. This concept gives each student the opportunity to master the skills necessary for the career of their choice while at the same time participating in academic courses that will benefit them in any occupation.
